Sarah Raven Study Days - Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th September - 13 Sep 2010

Sarah Raven, the famous gardening writer, broadcaster and teacher is returning to Newby Hall near Ripon for two inspirational study days in September 2010. Sarah's study days are hugely popular for both beginners and experienced gardeners alike and as numbers are strictly limited please book early to avoid disappointment.

YEAR ROUND VEG, HERB AND SALAD DAY Monday 13th September
The keystones to success of growing what you eat, creating a steady supply of delicious veg, salads and herbs from the garden to the kitchen without glut or dearth:
Work out what your household eats and design your veg patch around it.
Successional sowing.
Year-round sowing plan - design a chart of what to sow when.
System of plant rotation to minimize problems with pests and diseases.
The harvesting process.
Ornamental plants which make your productive patch look as good as the rest of the garden.

THE CUTTING GARDEN Tuesday 14th September
If you've been thinking about creating a cutting patch in your garden but are not sure where to start, this course is for you. Sarah will explain how to prepare, plant, maintain and harvest buckets of flowers from your own garden from March to November. You'll learn about the latest sowing and growing techniques, so that those who have never even sown a packet of seeds will achieve brilliant results. Sarah will talk about spring sown hardy annuals like scabious and sweet peas, and half-hardy annuals like cosmos and zinnias - showing you all her favourite dahlias for planting now. You will learn the best sowing and growing techniques so you can achieve brilliant results.

Attendees will be able to ask Sarah questions and buy seeds, bulbs, tools, books and other gardening products from her exclusive range.

Prices have been held from 2009 so the cost of one a day course will be £90 or two days; £170. This will include a light lunch with a glass of wine and free admission to the award winning gardens.
